In order to be prepared to raid and make things run smoothly (REQUIRED):
*Have all your gear repaired.
*Show up 15 minutes prior to the raid start time.
*Bring at least 5 cooked food consumables (the ones that give in-combat moral-regen and power-regen) - Lothlorien Waybread is a good choice.
*Be traited appropriately. If unsure whether you'll be DPS/Tank/Heals, ask!
*Change your status off anonymous, we want to be able to make sure you're not doing something like DPS'ing with a shield.

In order to help ensure success (Helpful/Suggested):
*Bring a couple +5 Hope tokens.
*Power potions.
*Morale potions.
*Read up on any new encounters and know your role.

Following these will help to ensure smoother raids as well as quicker downing of content we already have a handle on. In the future there may be penalties if you have not at least done the REQUIRED steps so please make them a part of your raiding checklist!

Arguably as important is what you do NOT bring to a raid. Leave your caps lock key attitude at the door. Bad things may happen. We may wipe. But being high and mighty or rude or letting your temper flare will only bring about worse results.

So when you show up, be prepared to work together, to take direction, to let things go if someone else gets uppity, and for the possibility that we won't get it right on the first shot.

This stuff is still required reading if you plan on raiding. Bring consumables (food, ailment pots, morale / power pots a must) and be familiar with the raid. If I explain the fight in raid chat, it should be old news to you whether you've done it before or not.

And whatever I say in raid chat is a statement of fact, not a personal comment. If I say "X can't die" I mean exactly that. I mean if that person goes down, our odds of success may plummet or be exactly 0. I'm not saying it's the healers' fault, that healers weren't doing their jobs, weren't doing well enough, etc. It's up to healers, off-healers, and X themselves to figure out how to make it work.

When on vent, keep statements simple and use names. "Something is hitting [name]" works. "Omg help I'm getting pwned by stuff [expletives]" and so on doesn't. It means no one can issue orders because you're screaming in vent, therefore no one can help you effectively. If a healer doesn't know your voice, they don't know who to heal. If you are going to talk in vent, keep it short, simple, and to the point. Cut the chatter when we are actually fighting.

Finally, listen to the raid leader, even if you think they're wrong. If someone calls out a target, follow that target. If you think it's the wrong target, say so, but do what they say anyway. As soon as organization breaks down, we start to lose sight of where things went bad. If you follow the raid leader to defeat, then they know the strategy needs changed. If you go off and do something else and others follow suit, we don't know if the strategy was wrong or if you screwed it all up.

I'm totally guilty of this, though I try to mostly yell it to Flay and hope it will work out! Lots of good reminders here no matter what your raiding experience. Thanks Toiben!
