Just thought I'd share this link that lists a bunch of builds that work after DDO's last game-changing update (19). You can probably find better or newer ones if you go digging in individual forums, but this is a good place to start.

Just make sure you jump to the last page or two in any of those build topics to see if people say whether it's still viable or not.

I would also suggest that one read through the description of each build carefully. Many of them are "not for beginners" They might have actual restrictions to take advantage of their powers like resurrection builds, or builds with 34 or 36 points available for abilities. I only found one of the builds for clerics would work okay for a "first life".

Indeed. Many feature "past life" feats and are built around the assumption that you have access to everything, including uber gear for your newly created/reincarnated character. If a build doesn't offer a means of going with a 28 point build, here are some things you can do (with the caveat of "unless your class/build depends on it"):

1. Drop CON to 10. Most builds list this in the 14-16 range at least, saying it's mandatory. If you're tackling the high level raids and very difficult content, it probably is necessary. For casual/solo play, it doesn't seem so.

2. Drop INT to 8-10. For most classes, this is just bonus skill points.

3. Drop WIS to 8-10. Even half the spellcasters who need it do this and just use potions/gear to compensate.

4. Drop DEX to 8-10. This mostly applies to heavy armor classes, since they benefit so little from it.

5. Drop CHA to 8-10. Most classes will do this anyway.

If that's STILL not enough, then yeah, find another build.

Speaking of which, I found this cleric build that I've been following on one of my TP farmers. It works reasonably well so far, although greatsword animations look dumb.
